The Beehive Has a Home!

The Beehive is a new community-dinner project in White Rock/South Surrey designed to bring people together for affordable, inclusive meals. And today, we’re thrilled to share some wonderful news: 🐝💛

The Beehive Community Dinners have found a home at Mount Olive Lutheran Church (2350 148th Street, Surrey)!

From our first conversations, the Council and congregation have welcomed us with warmth and enthusiasm. It has been a true pleasure getting to know them and sharing our vision for inclusive, at-cost community dinners.

While The Beehive is not a faith-based initiative, we see a natural alignment between our values and Mount Olive Lutheran Church’s mission:

"Mount Olive Lutheran Church is an open and inclusive community that celebrates diversity and difference, where all are invited to grow and learn alongside each other.”

Having such a welcoming venue — complete with a well-equipped kitchen, accessible entrances, and plenty of on-site (including designated accessible) parking, as well as a warm communal gathering space — will allow us to host dinners that are truly open to everyone, regardless of religion, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, age, or background. It also means we can prepare meals affordably and set them up in a way that builds real community around the table.

A very heartfelt thank you to Mount Olive Lutheran Church. We are deeply grateful for your support of The Beehive.

Pilot Dinner Dates Announced

We’ve tentatively booked the following dates at Mount Olive Lutheran Church for our pilot dinners:

• Saturday, February 7

• Saturday, March 14

• Saturday, April 18

We’ll begin with a smaller group at our first dinner, learn from the experience, and gradually grow the program as we gather feedback and build a sustainable, community-driven model.

We’re keeping costs low and operating in a not-for-profit spirit — every dollar supports the meals, supplies, and community-building that make The Beehive possible. While we aren’t yet a registered charity and can’t issue tax receipts, any contribution helps us bring this project to life.

When ticket sales open, your purchase will do more than secure you a delicious, home-cooked meal — it will help cover the direct costs that make these gatherings possible. Our not-for-profit model means ticket revenue goes straight back into food, supplies, activities, and creating welcoming spaces.
